Tonight I’m going to be speaking at Rollins College at the 3rd Annual Hunger Banquet. My goal is a call to action. Usually at the Hunger Banquet students are thought about the statistics and tragedies of hunger and homelessness. Tonight I’m going to introduce to them the “Heroes Challenge” and how they can not just be the change we want to see in the world, but how they themselves can become Heroes.
Yes, I’ve been a little hooked on the TV show the last few days, because my brother got me the DVD’s. They may not be able to levitate, teleport, read minds, etc. However, 50 Rollins College students can still create a miracle in our local community. I’m going to teach them how they can serve over 400,000 hours in their community within one year, and raise over $1 million by April 2010. Then I’m going to teach them how they can continue to serve an additional 200,000 hours each month, and raise an additional $500,000 each month. Imagine what kind of impact these 50 individuals could make in today’s economy. Just imagine what kind of boost this would give our economy over the next year. Do you think they will be up to the challenge to be Heroes, and make this miracle happen?
